We Came To This City To Cosplay

We may be busy, but we REALLY miss cosplaying. A 2012 resolution we had was to get more involved in cosplay like we used to; however, if you saw that we were in a pretty lengthy cosplay hiatus, we were busy running our label while going to school and serving in the Air Force. Having our time eaten up trying to knock out school and military is keeping us making our own cosplays, yet we’re not the type to purchase cosplays without recognition to the creator. Thus this is where Cosplay Shopper came in to potentially fill the void for us. CosplayShopper.com is a new website where fans can purchase cosplays, lolita outfits, and costume items; in addition, custom commission outfits. I will elaborate more on Cosplay Shopper later this week on Sushicrowd.com as Rin and I are still conducting an assessment to accept sponsorship, but we have been approached by Cosplay Shopper to model for them as we are being sponsored by them. This new collaboration is a great way to tide us over until we can create our own and compete again. Hope this plan comes together well.

I’m finding it harder to be on the net more often now then before. I got moved to swing shift at work so I’m working most of the day. The great thing about swing shift is that I get more sleep and I can stay up later, but a lot of my free time gets eaten up. I still feel like my weekend is short with taking Saturday off (my weekends days are Sunday and Monday). Yesterday (Saturday), Ooples had 3 huge events the same day, an Anime Lock-In, a My Little Pony Lock-In, and Vampire Hunter D Vol. 6 release party. After doing my body wrap in preparations for the Air Force’s conspiracy called the PT test, I showed up to the event to DJ but also did my first cosplay photoshoot with Rin since a very long while (Rin Lightning set). If I could stay humble writing this, I’m not really that awesome of a photographer, but I’m pretty proud of myself if I enjoy looking at my own work, then again, I enjoy looking at Rin, especially in cosplay. I took a few photos of myself as well to update my profile photo and those didn’t turn out bad either. I only hoped that I could have taken more but I already had something to do at Ooples.

Thank God for a new Ooples store because an anime/brony capacity crowd with a convention celebrity DJ would not be contained at the old flea-market stand. I always enjoy mixing with the Hakubiverse from all fandoms and it’s a new kind of feeling as I DJ with a crowd that I am just getting to know. Originally I was suppose to mix late night at around 11:00PM but I played for a few hours around 6:00ish and broadcasted some anime music while I was working on Rin’s photos. For the last hour we were there, I was teaching Rin how to DJ and this Lightning is very much a natural DJ. Some of the tunes I have on my crate came from her recommendations so I imagine she’ll be on the deck at cons pretty soon. This Saturday coming up is the Sailor Moon Vol. 3 release party and I plan to be back there to mix as well and maybe have Rin spend some booth time.
