Rave Her World

Here I am writing this in Boston, Massachusetts as I had to do some business at Hanscom, plus been behind on a couple of things since I’ve started school again for my degree, studying for my CCENT, and working harder to beat this conspiracy known as the Air Force PT test, plus trying to finish off the San Japan 4TW saga and getting the highlight promo for Cosplay Cares Coalition complete. Just as Moscow never sleeps, neither do I. At any rate, I’m here to highlight the first stop of the FsCK the End of the World Tour, Sukoshi Con Mobile, Alabama.
Two weeks removed from my charity pre-gig at Cosplay Cares Coalition in South Padre Island, TX, I worked to expand my setlist from one hour to two to get ready for Sukoshi Con’s main event rave. It’s been a pretty long week considering a fresh list, work, school, videos, and travel arrangements. I ended up practicing up to 11:30AM Friday night, only to wake up at 3:00AM next morning to fly out at 6:00AM. Rin wasn’t able to go with me this time around so again it’s been pretty tough trying to get around without a very trusted handler/chief of security but I was able to enjoy the con nonetheless. The flight both ways seemed pretty long as I was running on 2 hours of sleep but as soon as I got to Mobile, I got to work.
For those that don’t know what Sukoshi Con is or haven’t watched my Gulf Shores video on Youtube, Sukoshi Con is a group of conventions; although small-scale, take place almost on a monthly basis instead of an annual basis. It was easy for me to film the panels since all the events were linear and I didn’t have panels myself this time around. With that being said, I finally got to meet cosplayer Yoko Mizuhara face to face as well as getting to know Seth Jones again since a previous photoshoot. Their panels and efforts towards the con were informative and commendable respectively. I know how they feel that they had quite a workout working the con and hosting their panels, but I wish I was able to get to learn more from these two. Another cosplayer I was happy to see is Melfina, a fellow guest for Fandom Con who took home another Best in Show award at the con (not quite spoiler alert as there are 2 grand champions). Speaking of Fandom Con, they were their cutting their promo at their panel which I happened to cut my own promo there for my rave at Fandom next month. Finally I was happy to see some old friends there like Dryden and my cosplay mentor Hotaru230; having to come back to the Emerald Coast after only leaving for 5 months, it’s like I never left.
The rave, as always, has been the most enjoyable event. I tend to not like reliving my own events or looking at my own work, but I was extremely happy about this mix session. The crowd was awesome, the cosplayers were fantastic, the girls were having a blast, everyone was having a good time. With each event, I feel like I evolve a bit as I originally came in with a set playlist to mix between, only to play though with a completely different order on my list. This crowd put me to work and I got to say, thank you Hakubiverse for that awesome experience. I also want to thank James Carol for giving me this opportunity and I wish lots of luck in Destin and future Sukoshi Cons.
I fly back from Boston tomorrow. I can’t wait to see my kitty Rin again after being away from her for so long. I had to leave her last Saturday and I came back on Sunday, only to have left her again on Tuesday. She was pretty upset but that’s the risk of being in the Air Force. I’m happy that Blizzcon is this weekend so she’s keeping herself occupied watching the live feed and such. Perhaps one day we will go there live ourselves. This is probably going to be a busy weekend for me even when I do come back as I have to write 2 papers for college and attend WWE Vengeance, live from San Antonio. Boston was ok but was too cold to see the city and saturated with tasks but maybe next time I visit, it’d be for Anime Boston. Well I’ll get back to work and leave you with pics that I snagged on my phone as well as the list I played at the con. See everyone at Fandom!!!
